Electronic Systems

In braking and suspension systems, electronics can provide not only Antilock functions but full Electronic Braking Systems and systems to control coupling forces, vehicle stability and suspension levelling.

Our state-of-the-art computer technology provides high levels of safety, adaptability and economy of operation.

Our extensive product programme includes:

ABS (Antilock System). Systems are available to suit all axle configurations on trucks, buses and trailers. The systems aim to prevent the wheels from locking during braking and can thus reduce stopping distances and provide significantly improved vehicle stability.

ASR (Anti Spin Regulation). This feature aims to prevent wheels on the driven axles from spinning during acceleration thus ensuring optimum traction, whatever the condition of the road surface.

EBS (Electronic Braking System). Again, systems are available to suit all vehicle configurations. EBS integrates into a single system the basic brake control but with the benefits of the ABS and ASR functions. The primary advantage of electronic control compared with conventional pneumatic control is the significantly reduced response times. This gives the driver a greatly improved ´control´ of the braking effort and importantly provides the opportunity for shorter braking distances and thereby enhanced road safety.

EBS also offers Coupling Force Control (CFC) This electronic feature modifies braking force distribution and harmonises braking between towing vehicle and trailer, resulting in much improved vehicle stability and balance of brake utilisation.

ESP (Electronic Stability Programme). This is an important extension to EBS. When dedicated system sensors detect critical stability information, such as may occur if entering a bend at high speed, automatic application of individual brakes is initiated along with simultaneous intervention in the engine management control. The resulting adjustment to vehicle speed and direction, without any action of the driver, greatly enhances vehicle stability and provides dramatic improvements to road safety.

ELC (Electronic Levelling Control). This system provides automatic chassis height regulation and adjustment for vehicles with air suspension. A manual axle-lifting function is available to assist, for example, with vehicle loading.
